PISCO –YANAPACCHA

Maximum altitude: 5,752 m. Pisco summit
Maximum altitude: (Yanapaccha summit 5,480).
Difficulty: Moderate.
Duration: 06days /05nights.
Preferred time: May – September.
Location: Cordillera Blanca.
Average temperature: Between 13° C – 23° C during the day/ at night -05°C to – 02°C on the top – 10°C.

 

DAY 01: HUARAZ – CEBOLLAPAMPA –BASE CAMP OF PISCO (3 100 – 4 650) m.s.n.m

 After the breakfast in the Hotel, from Huaraz we will aboard the Bus to go along the Callejón de Huaylas in the north side of Huaraz. Passing different traditional Andean towns, first arriving and making the first stop in Carhuas (2650m), here we will find the traditional made at home Ice-Creams from local fruits, then we will continue with our travel to the next stop in the ancient town of Yungay, this city was buried by an Avalanche that fell down from Huascarán Mountain in 1970, the New Yungay (2500m), from here we have to start going up to the Llanganuco Valley, for the entrance to the Llanganuco Valley we will register in the National Huascaran Park Control, after we will visit the two lakes of Llanganuco ( Chinancocha and Orconcocha), where we will have Lunch, then we will continue going up to the Base Camp of Pisco, if it is not cloud we will appreciate the fantastic peaks of the Mountains, Huascaran, Chopicalqui, Pisco, Huandoys. We will arrive to the base Camp Pisco accompanied by the donkey drivers and mountain staff around 3 pm. overnight at 4650m.

DAY 02: PISCO BASE CAMP – SU MMIT – BASE CAMP (4650 – 5752) m.s.n.m

 Wake-up around midnight or 1:00 a.m. and after a very light breakfast we star to walk by the moraine for approx. 2 .5 hours then here we’ll have to put our climbing equipment to start climbing up to the Pisco Summit 5752m, after climbing up for about 1 hour we’ll get a quite all of 40 mtrs and 50 ° of difficult, after this all we have to climbing for about 2 hours half to get the Summit, where we’ll enjoy the nice views of different mountains such as: Artesonraju, Alpamayo, Caraz, Huascaran, Chopicalqui, Yanapaccha, Chacraraju, Brogui, Huandoys, etc., after we star climb down, 2.5 hours on the glacier then 2 more hours on the moraine to the Refugio. Overnight at the Refugio.

DAY 03: BASE CAMP – LAKE 69 –CEBOLLAPAMPA (4650 – 4000)

After the last breakfast in the Base Camp of Pisco Mountain, we will take the trail which connect to lake 69 by high trail around for 2.5 hours, spending 30 minutes enjoying the beautiful landscape at the lake, then to descend by the normal 69 lake’s trail to Cebollapampa for about 2 more hours, there will be camping, and have lunch.

DAY 04: DRIVE TO PORTACHUELO – HIKE TO YANAPACCHA MORAINE CAMP 4900M.

After the breakfast at the camp we will continue driving up to the Portachuelo by 40 minutes, if it is not cloud we will appreciate the amazing peaks of the Mountains like: Huascarán, Chopicalqui, Pisco, Huandoys, Chacraraju and others; after we will start Hiking up to the Moraine Camp of Yanapaccha for about 3 more hours with the Guide’s help, we will check our climbing gears to leave ready for the next morning, dinner and overnight at 4900m.

DAY 05: MORAINE CAMP – MORAINE CAMP.

This Day We will start With Our Mountain Course Our Leader will show Us step by step all the rope system, the basic knots for climbing, how to use adequate the equipment, then will take Us to the Glacier where we will practice everything about technic for climbing vertical walls and how to rescue a partner if had fall. Survive if you are into an accident, everything. After lunch we will rest and save energies for the next day where we will improve the lection we had the day before climbing the 200 mt, approx. To Yanapaccha Summit.

DAY 06: MORAINE CAMP – SUMMIT –  MORAINE CAMP

This day we will have breakfast early around 03:00hours, then around 03:30hours we will start climbing, 30 minutes over the rocky path to get the snow, after that we will climb up to the summit for about 3 – 4 hours over 5480m, This day we will employ everything we learn the day before all techniques from the summit we will enjoy the nice mountain views around like Chacraraju, Pisco, Huascaran, Chopicalqui, Contrahierva, Huandoys, etc.; after that we will start descend to the Moraine Camp for about 3 hours, lunch at the Camp then walk to the road then transport to Huaraz
