MOUNTAIN QUITARAJU: 07 DAYS - 06 NIGHTS
Maximum altitude: 6040 m. Quitaraju summit
Difficulty: Difficult.
Duration: 7days /6nights.
Preferred time: May – September.
Location: Cordillera Blanca.
Average temperature: Between 13° C – 23° C during the day/ at night -05°C to – 02°C on the top – 10°C.
DAY 01: HUARAZ - CASHAPAMPA - LLAMACORRAL
Huaraz we will drive for around 2 hours half to the Cashapampa Village 2900 masl. There we will meet the donkey drivers; from there we will start to hike for around 5 hours to the Santa Cruz Valley, we will reach the first campsite nest to the river Llamacorral 3760masl.
DAY 02: LLAMACORRAL - BASE CAMP
On this day we will hike for around 5 hours passing two lakes Ichiccocha and Jatuncocha, we will continue hiking enjoying the nice views the most Beauty Mountain “Alpamayo” and the other Quitaraju, continuing we will entrance to the Arhuaycocha Valley, we will reach at Alpamayo Base Camp 4250masl.
DAY 03: BASE CAMP - MORAINE CAMP
We will hike for around 4 hours rocky path to get the moraine camp, during the hiking we will enjoy the spectacular view of the mountains Artesonraju, Paria, Pucajirca, overnight at 4800masl.
DAY 04: MORAINE CAMP – CAMP 1
We will start hike a rocky path for around 2 hours and get the ice, climbing to the camp 1for around 5 hours half, it is at the top of the ice cliff between Alpamayo and Quitaraju Mountains and overnight there at 5550masl.
DAY 05: CAMP 1 - SUMMIT QUITARAJU (6100MASL) - CAMP 1
After the breakfast will be at 03:00hours in the morning, and we will start climbing 03:30hours, after 1 hour half walking in the snow we will get the base of the wall, the inclination is approx. 70 º, then we will start climbing the wall, and after 3 or 4 hours climbing we will succeed the summit 6100m, where we will have impressionist white mountain peaks. And after to enjoy for a few minutes we will come dawn rappelling with the help of our guide, arriving to the camp place at 13:00hours and just for lunch, and rest in the afternoon, overnight in the glacier at 5550m.
DAY 06: CAMP 1 - BASE CAMP
After the breakfast we will descend for around 5 hours, rappelling 90mtrs and continuing descend for around 5 hours till Base Camp and overnight there.
DAY 07: BASE CAMP - CASHAPAMPA - HUARAZ
This day it so a just walking to the Santa Cruz valley for around 7 hours till to the Cashapampa Village where the minivan waiting for us and transfer us to the hotel in Huaraz.
